Oh-oh...things are not going good here at Silverhorn Lodge....the Wife is on a painting kick....and you know what that means...she is getting the gear ready to start a 'paint the lodge' marathon. Guys you know what I am talking about, your wife gets in her head that something needs doing, then says she is going to do it. However, you also know that no matter what she says, somehow you are going to be involved in the program. It might only be as helper, but you are going to be involved. So forget about Sunday afternoon on the couch, it isn't happening...the best you can hope for is to go to work tomorrow to get some rest....
The Wife has decided the kitchen needs 'freshing up' as she calls it, which to me means stick a few flowers in a vase on the table. Apparently it means more than that...I offered to go buy a nice floral arrangement, but instead she said, "I think a light blue would be nice, with a darker trim." Uh-oh...I knew she wasn't describing flowers....
This morning she caught me off guard, I thought she was upstairs sleeping, but instead she was upstairs getting her painting supplies in order. I knew this was going to be bad when she showed me some paint color samples but I thought I was in the clear, by saying I didn't like any of them, hoping she would take longer to decide. But as I have since found out, she doesn't really care what I think anyway....she was just being 'polite' by asking my opinion. She had already made up her mind....
I knew things were heating up when she purchased a couple of gallons of paint at Walmart the night before last, but I thought it would take a little longer, at least time for me to injure my back or leg or arm or something to get out of the action so to speak. Yesterday I even worked on one of the Lodge vehicles, that is usually good for a cut hand or a missing finger or something, but nope, I survived in fine shape....Good enough shape that today she had me take all the cupboard doors off.
I tried to get out of that by saying I didn't have the right size screwdriver for the hinges, but she said, "No problem, I bought you one yesterday." She handed me a new screwdriver with several interchangable heads saying, "I'm sure one of those fits...."

We're Back !
Wow! It's hard to believe the last time you heard from Marcello and I here at Silverhorn Lodge high atop Silverhorn Mountain, it was still 2008....December 15th to be exact. I bet you were starting to believe that we had forsaken our blog for other ventures...
Well that is partially true....we did forsake The View From Silverhorn Mountain and buggered off to a warmer climate for the winter. Yup, we took the boys and we were basking in the sun on the beach in The Dominican Republic, staying at a 5 star resort, living the high life...or at least as high a life as an aging blogger his lovely wife and his band of garden gnomes. Here is the view I saw the most often....

Needless to say, the boys loved it in the Dominican. The beach was their favorite place to spend the day, that or poolside, laying on a lounge chair, kicking back with a good book, sipping a banana mama and attracting girls to me like flies to honey.
Yup, there is nothing like a couple of garden gnomes in thong swimsuits to get the ladies attention....Marcello is a little shy, so he was dressed a little more modestly than the rest of the boys who were...well...ya had to be there....Actually, Marcello did a little better than the rest of us, instead of heading to the beach, he slept during the day and headed to the resort bar in the evenings, where he partied to dawn with some of the girls! Here is a picture of him in the Margaritaville Bar!

But all good things must come to an end...we're back, getting the Lodge in shape for the summer season. We're a little worried about the downturn in the economy, that is bound to have an affect on the tourist trade, but what can ya do? We'll probably run some specials, maybe two nights for the price of one, that kind of thing, and hope that it works....that is one of the advantages to running a fictious mountain lodge resort....business is pretty much the same regardless of the economy...
